The 1986 Pittsburgh Pirates season was the 105th season of the Pittsburgh Pirates franchise; the 100th in Major League Baseball (MLB). The Pirates finished sixth and last in the National League East with a record of 64–98. This was also the rookie season of left fielder Barry Bonds, who led the Pirates with 36 stolen bases and finished second on the club with 16 home runs.
Offseason
- October 4, 1985: Jerry Dybzinski was released by the Pittsburgh Pirates.[1]
- December 10, 1985: Bobby Bonilla was drafted from the Pirates by the Chicago White Sox in the 1985 rule 5 draft.[2]
Regular season
- May 30, 1986: The Pirates recalled Barry Bonds from the Triple A Hawaii Islanders. At the time of the callup, Bonds was hitting .311, with 7 Home Runs, 37 RBIs and 16 stolen bases at Triple A.
