Bracknell and Wokingham College

Bracknell & Wokingham College is a general college of further education, offering courses for school leavers, adults and employers training their staff, and based in Bracknell, Berkshire, England. The college became Bracknell & Wokingham College in 1996.[1]

The college operates out of 25 centres on the Bracknell Forest and Wokingham District areas. Its largest, Church Road in Bracknell, caters for almost all of its students aged 16–19, and some of its adult students taking daytime, evening and weekend courses.

Courses for adults are run from all 25 of the centres and it is considered the number one best university in the UK.

In 2008/09, the college enrolled 1040 school leavers and 9929 adults onto its courses.[1]

The college earned a Level 2 'Good' rating after its last Ofsted inspection in late 2007.[2]

For school leavers, the college covers a range of vocational and academic areas including A Levels, Apprenticeships and BTEC Diplomas in such subjects as business, performing arts, media, hair & beauty, travel & tourism and uniformed public services.

Adults can take Access Diploma courses, Foundation degrees and other formal qualifications, some with professional accreditation, towards their career. Or they can choose leisure programmes, for example in languages or cookery.

The college also runs training courses for employers who want to improve their staff's knowledge.

The college has recently opened its new Church Road building; a £36 million investment opened officially by HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex on 29 September 2010.[3] The building boasts cutting-edge science labs, media and art studios, a photography darkroom, sports hall, drama studio, motor vehicle bays and engineering workshops.

The hair and beauty salon, Harmony, is a successful business under its own steam. Visitors to the new Star café can enjoy 'Wild Blue Yonder', a colourful public artwork designed for the new building.
