Shao Kao (Chinese: 烧烤; pinyin: Shāo Kǎo) is the Chinese translation of barbecue. Predominantly seen on busy Chinese streets, skewered meat and vegetables are flame grilled after being heavily seasoned with various spices, including both cumin and Chinese five-spice powder.
Many diners also order beer alongside their food, while often participating in games of Chinese dice.
